Four official readings
United StatesState Departmentsource ↗Our reference level — the one shown across this site
Is the whole country advised against?Nono restriction on the whole country
Level 2/4 — “Exercise Increased Caution”levels 1 and 2 are advice to be careful, not travel restrictions
FranceFrance Diplomatiesource ↗Added on top of the U.S. level, under its own rules: red or orange AREAS
Is the whole country advised against?Except for imperative reasonsthe whole country is advised against, unless the reason is imperative
United KingdomFCDOsource ↗Added on top of the U.S. level, under its own rules: travel statuses
Is the whole country advised against?Nono restriction on the whole country+ parts of the country
our reading: all but essential travel advised against to parts of the country

SwitzerlandFDFAsource ↗Advisory cited by the Maximum policy
Is the whole country advised against?Nono restriction on the whole country+ parts of the country
our reading: Switzerland’s FDFA advises against travel to certain regions
advice published 03.03.2026
These readings do not say the same thing. France says except for imperative reasons; the United States, the United Kingdom and Switzerland say no — a 1-band gap on our comparison scale.Our comparison reading: 27 September 2026

How we read these four advisories

Every country has its own scale, so we ask them all the same question: is the whole country advised against?

An advisory covering only areas of the country does not raise the answer: it stays “No”, and the area is shown in the relevant column.

The level shown on this page — and across this site — is the one published by the U.S. State Department, from 1 (normal precautions) to 4 (do not travel). France and the United Kingdom publish their own advisories, with their own rules: they add to that level, they do not replace it.

The official advice, in full

Source: France Diplomatie (health advice, in French).

In brief
  • Consult a doctor or international vaccination center at least 8 weeks before travel for health assessments and recommended vaccinations, including diphtheria, tetanus, and polio.
  • Carry necessary medications in their original packaging with an international common name prescription, and verify their legality in the destination country.
  • Take precautions against mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and chikungunya, especially during the rainy season from June to October, by using repellent and protective clothing.
  • Ensure you have adequate travel insurance and funds for local medical treatment or potential evacuation, as healthcare facilities in Bangladesh are considered poor.
  • Maintain strict food and water hygiene, including regular hand washing and avoiding raw or undercooked food, to prevent illnesses like typhoid fever.
  • Be aware that hospitals in Bangladesh may require financial guarantees before commencing treatment, and Rh-negative individuals might face difficulties obtaining blood transfusions.

  • Hépatite A : en fonction des conditions et de la durée de séjour ;
  • Fièvre typhoïde : en fonction des conditions et de la durée de séjour ;
  • Méningite ACWY : en cas de séjour pendant la saison sèche (habituellement hiver et printemps) ou d’épidémie signalée ;
  • T uberculose : chez les enfants de moins de 15 ans en cas de séjours fréquents ou prolongés ;
  • Rage : notamment enfants en bas âge, séjour en milieu rural ou éloigné des villes principales ;
  • Chikungunya : en cas d’épidémie ou de séjour prolongé ;
  • Dengue : en cas d’épidémie active ou de séjour prolongé en zone endémique ;
  • Encéphalite japonaise : en fonction des conditions et de la durée du séjour ;

  • Porter des vêtements longs et couvrants ;
  • Appliquer des produits répulsifs cutanés sur les zones découvertes du corps ;
  • Protéger son logement (moustiquaires imprégnées d’insecticide, diffuseurs électriques, serpentins à l’extérieur, climatisation, etc.) ;

  • Se laver les mains régulièrement avec de l’eau et du savon ou des solutions de lavage hydroalcooliques, surtout avant et après les repas et le passage aux toilettes ;
  • Veiller à la qualité des aliments et surtout à leur bonne cuisson ;
  • Éviter la consommation de produits alimentaires (poisson, viande, volaille, lait) crus ou peu cuits ;
  • Peler les fruits et légumes ou les laver soigneusement (à l’eau saine) ;
  • Éviter les crudités, coquillages, plats réchauffés et buffets froids ;

Health — Foreign Office

Before you travel check that:

  • your destination can provide the healthcare you may need
  • you have appropriate travel insurance and access to money for local treatment or unexpected medical evacuation

This is particularly important if you have a health condition or are pregnant.

Emergency medical number

Call 999 and ask for an ambulance.

If you suspect a heart attack, ask for a ‘cardiac ambulance’.

It may be faster to travel to the nearest hospital yourself if you have a vehicle.

Contact your insurance company quickly if you’re referred to a medical facility for treatment.

Vaccine recommendations and health risks

At least 8 weeks before your trip:

  • check the latest vaccination recommendations for Bangladesh
  • see where to get vaccines and whether you have to pay on the NHS travel vaccinations page

See what health risks you’ll face in Bangladesh , including:

  • dengue fever, a mosquito-borne disease that can occur year-round but is more widespread during the rainy season, May to September
  • other mosquito-borne diseases, including malaria, chikungunya and Zika virus
  • severe air pollution, especially from November to March

Dengue cases are increasing, including in Dhaka. See insect bite avoidance advice on TravelHealthPro .

Medication

The legal status and regulation of some medicines prescribed or bought in the UK can be different in other countries.

Read best practice when travelling with medicines on TravelHealthPro .

You should carry any medical papers or prescriptions and be prepared to answer questions if police ask you about any medication you’re carrying.

Healthcare in Bangladesh

Medical facilities in Bangladesh are poor. Routine tests and X-rays are unreliable.

FCDO has a list of medical providers in Bangladesh where some staff will speak English.

Flooding Flash floods and landslides have affected parts of Bangladesh, including the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet regions. There is an increased risk of seasonal flooding in parts of northeast Bangladesh, including the Sylhet region, due to heavy rainfall during the pre‑monsoon period. Flooding may occur with little warning and could disrupt transport, utilities and access to services, particularly in low‑lying and river‑adjacent areas. Monitor local weather forecasts and updates from the Bangladesh Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre and the Bangladesh Meteorological Department and follow the advice of local authorities.

Updated 29.07.2026

Exercise increased caution in Bangladesh due to unrest , crime , terrorism , and kidnapping . Some areas have increased risk. Read the entire Travel Advisory.

Unrest

Protests can occur and turn violent without notice. Avoid all gatherings, even peaceful ones.

Crime

In Bangladesh’s major cities, common crimes include muggings, burglaries, assaults, and illegal drug trafficking.

Stay aware of petty crime in crowded areas, such as pickpocketing. These crimes tend to be based on time and location. There is no evidence that foreigners are targeted because of their country of origin.

Terrorism

There is risk of terrorist violence, including terrorist attacks and other terrorist activity, in Bangladesh. Visit the U.S. Department of State's country reports on terrorism to learn more

Kidnapping

There is risk of kidnapping in the Chittagong Hill Tracts Region, areas near the border with Burma, and refugee camps near Cox’s Bazar. Review the Risks in Specific Areas section to learn more.

Restrictions on movement for U.S. government employees

U.S. citizens in Bangladesh are advised to take similar precautions as U.S. government employees.

  • U.S. government employees in Bangladesh must consult with the embassy security office before any overnight travel within Dhaka, or before any travel outside Dhaka for non-essential reasons. They must take appropriate security and accountability precautions during this travel.

The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in Bangladesh, particularly outside of Dhaka. This is due to these travel restrictions, a lack of infrastructure, and limited emergency responses from the local government.

Do not travel to:

  • Chittagong Hill Tracts Region for any reason due to unrest , crime , terrorism , and kidnapping .
  • Areas near the border with Burma and refugee camps near Cox’s Bazar for any reason due to unrest , crime , and kidnapping .

  • une autorisation doit être demandée au ministère de l’Intérieur au moins un mois à l’avance ;
  • les étrangers ne sont autorisés à se rendre dans les districts qu’après autorisation écrite des autorités ;

  • Demonstrations and strikes can erupt unexpectedly, leading to property damage, road blockades, and potential disruptions to travel.
  • Terrorist attacks are possible at any time and may target foreigners and religious minorities.
  • Travel to the Chittagong Hill Tracts requires prior authorization and must be organized by an accredited local travel agency.
  • Due to high crime rates, avoid displaying valuables, be cautious of unsolicited assistance at airports, and do not resist during assaults.
  • Roads and vehicles are poorly maintained, and dangerous driving practices pose a high accident risk; nighttime travel is strongly discouraged.

  • évitez si possible de porter sur vous des objets de valeur (montre, bijoux, etc.) et ne gardez sur vous que le strict minimum d'argent liquide;
  • faites preuve de la plus grande prudence vis-à-vis des offres d'aide, comme porter des valises ou les services de taxi dans les aéroports internationaux (surtout Dhaka et Sylhet), car les motivations sont souvent criminelles. Faites-en sorte qu’une personne de confiance vienne vous chercher ou empruntez les taxis de l’hôtel;
  • faites preuve d’une vigilance particulière dans les transports publics et déplacez-vous uniquement de jour;
  • déplacez-vous le moins possible à pied et renoncez généralement aux promenades nocturnes. Dans la mesure du possible, n'empruntez pas seul/e les "rickshaws", les "babytaxis" ou les taxis motorisés à 3 roues (CGN), et faites preuve d’une vigilance particulière après la tombée de la nuit. Les attaques peuvent toutefois avoir lieu à n’importe quelle heure du jour;

Bangladesh-Myanmar border

There are ongoing reports of increasing violence and fighting in Myanmar, close to the Bangladesh border. The situation in border areas near Myanmar remains unpredictable and may deteriorate at short notice. You should monitor local news outlets closely.

Continuing violence has resulted in hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees crossing into the south-east of Bangladesh.

Most of the refugees are in the subdistricts of Ukhia and Teknaf in the southern part of Cox’s Bazar district. There are regular reports of insecurity, protests and violence.

Teknaf has the highest level of drug-related gang violence across Bangladesh, including:

  • murders and shooting incidents between the gangs and police
  • drug seizures, including large amounts of yaba (a mixture of caffeine and methamphetamine)
  • kidnappings

Violence has increased in the refugee camps. There is no sign that foreign nationals are being targeted.

If you plan to visit Ukhia and Teknaf, you should:

  • use caution
  • consult the local authorities – you may need permission to travel there
  • work through humanitarian agencies recognised by the Bangladeshi government if you want to provide assistance

Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks. These attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreign nationals, and places such as:

  • public buildings, including restaurants and cafés
  • public transport
  • crowded areas
  • religious buildings
  • political rallies

Some groups have targeted people who they consider to have views and lifestyles contrary to Islam, including religious minorities.

Islamist extremist groups operate in Bangladesh.

The Bangladeshi authorities continue to disrupt planned attacks. Increases in security force presence and restrictions on movement may be put in place at short notice.

Remain aware of your surroundings. Avoid large gatherings and other locations with a police or security presence. Follow the advice of local authorities.

Political situation

Bangladesh held national elections on 12 February 2026. Political rallies and demonstrations can quickly turn violent leading to clashes. During demonstrations and strikes (‘hartals’), there can be arson, violence and vandalism in towns and cities across the country, which can result in fatalities.

There have been occasional attacks against minority religious communities.

There have also been attacks targeting the police and security forces. These have included improvised explosive device ( IED ) attacks in major cities.

In July and August 2024, a popular uprising led to widespread violence across Bangladesh, with many deaths and injuries.

Be alert to quickly changing situations on the streets. Stay away from protests or demonstrations, rallies and large gatherings. If you see a demonstration starting, move to a place of safety. Follow the advice of local authorities. Follow updates in local media and get email notifications when this travel advice is updated.

Robbery and violence

There are reports of an increase in violent crime since the popular uprising in Bangladesh in July and August 2024.

Criminal gangs operate in Dhaka and other cities. Thieves often work in pairs on motorcycles or motorised rickshaws known as ‘CNGs’.

Potential threats include armed robbery, violent crime and rape.

Passengers using rickshaws, taxis, buses or trains are vulnerable to violent crime, particularly at night. Avoid using public transport if you’re travelling alone. See Transport risks .

2SLGBTQI+ persons

Bangladeshi law prohibits sexual acts between individuals of the same sex. Other related offences include being in a same-sex marriage and promoting homosexuality. Those convicted can face life imprisonment. 2SLGBTQI+ persons should carefully consider the risks of travelling to Bangladesh. Travel and your sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sex characteristics

Children

Local authorities may consider your child as a Bangladeshi citizen if you are Bangladeshi, regardless of their place of birth or if your child has formally obtained Bangladeshi citizenship.

International Child Abduction

The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction is an international treaty. It can help parents with the return of children who have been removed to or retained in certain countries in violation of custody rights. It does not apply between Canada and Bangladesh. If your child was wrongfully taken to, or is being held in Bangladesh by an abducting parent:

  • act as quickly as you can
  • consult a lawyer in Canada and in Bangladesh to explore all the legal options for the return of your child
  • report the situation to the nearest Canadian government office abroad or to Global Affairs Canada by calling the Emergency Watch and Response Centre

If your child was removed from a country other than Canada, consult a lawyer to determine if The Hague Convention applies. Be aware that Canadian consular officials cannot interfere in private legal matters or in another country's judicial affairs.

Identification

Local authorities may ask you to verify your identity. Carry a photocopy of your passport and visa at all times.

Property disputes

Property disputes, including those between family members, are common and can turn violent. Contact a local lawyer if you find yourself in such a situation.

Driving

Traffic drives on the left. You must carry an International Driving Permit. International Driving Permit

Money

The currency is the taka (BDT). When entering or leaving the country, you must declare any funds exceeding US$5,000 or 5,000 taka, or their equivalent. You must have a ticket for travel outside Bangladesh if you want to exchange taka for U.S. dollars. You cannot leave the country with more U.S. dollars than you declared upon arrival.

Foreign Office — laws and cultural differences

Local laws

Bangladesh is a majority Muslim country. Respect the customs and laws. Make sure your actions do not cause offence.

Personal ID

Local officials may ask you for ID. Carry copies of the photo page in your passport and your Bangladeshi visa. Keep the originals somewhere safe and leave copies with friends or relatives in the UK.

Dress code

Both men and women should dress modestly to avoid causing offence. Women should cover their shoulders and legs in public.

Ramadan

Ramadan in 2026 is expected to start on the 17/18 February and last until the third week of March. Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims. Get advice on respecting Ramadan from your tour guide, hotel or business contacts. You should:

  • check opening hours of shops and restaurants
  • follow local dress codes – clothing that does not meet local dress codes may cause more offence at this time, both for women and men
  • be aware that fasting can cause tiredness, particularly during the later afternoon and early evening
British nationals of Bangladeshi origin

If you’re a British national of Bangladeshi origin, the Bangladeshi government will consider you to be a Bangladeshi citizen, even if you:

  • have never had a Bangladeshi passport
  • were born outside of Bangladesh

This may limit the help the UK government can offer you. For more information on Bangladeshi nationality, check with the Bangladeshi High Commission in the UK. The Bangladesh Police Expatriate Help Cell offers services to foreign nationals, including dual nationals.

Alcohol laws

You may need a liquor permit to drink alcohol in Bangladesh. A liquor permit allows you to drink alcohol in government-licensed bars. Check the requirements at your local district office and apply for a permit if necessary.

Illegal drugs penalties

There are severe penalties for possessing and trafficking illegal drugs. Some drug-related offences are punishable by the death penalty or life imprisonment.

Prison sentences and conditions

If you break local laws, you may get a prison sentence, served in a local prison. Delays and inefficiency in the judicial system can result in long detentions until court hearings eventually take place. Prison conditions are far below UK standards. British nationals detained in Bangladesh have the right to request access to British High Commission officials.

Family law and property disputes

Family law in Bangladesh is very different from UK law. Always check your legal position when, for example, child custody is an issue. The British High Commission in Dhaka cannot help British nationals of Bangladeshi origin with land or property problems.

LGBT+ travellers

Same-sex sexual activity is illegal in Bangladesh. Read more advice for LGBT+ travellers.

Entry requirements — rules for a British passport

This information is for people travelling on a full ‘British citizen’ passport from the UK. It is based on the UK government’s understanding of Bangladesh’s current rules for the most common types of travel.

The authorities in Bangladesh set and enforce entry rules. If you are not sure how these requirements apply to you, contact the Bangladeshi High Commission in the UK .

Passport validity requirements

To enter Bangladesh, your passport must have at least 2 blank pages and no damage.

See ‘Applying for a visa’ for passport validity requirements for visas.

Check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet the requirements. Renew your passport if you need to.

You will be denied entry if you do not have a valid travel document or try to use a passport that has been reported lost or stolen.

Make sure you get your passport stamped.

Make sure you get an entry stamp in your passport when you arrive. Immigration officers will check the date on your entry stamp when you leave Bangladesh. You could get a fine for overstaying.

At Bangladeshi border control, you may also need to show a return or onward ticket.

Dual nationals

When returning to the UK, British citizens must carry a valid British passport or certificate of entitlement . See Dual Citizenship .

Electronic arrival and departure cards

Bangladesh has introduced online arrival and departure registration for foreign nationals. Travellers may be required to complete an electronic arrival card before entering Bangladesh and an electronic departure card before leaving.

Visa requirements

You must have a visa to visit Bangladesh for up to 3 months, unless you have a ‘no visa required’ stamp in your UK passport.

Applying for a visa

If you are eligible for a visa on arrival, you may be able to pre-register online before travel. Check the latest requirements with the Bangladeshi authorities and your airline before travelling.

Apply in advance for a visa from the Bangladeshi High Commission in the UK.

Your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 6 months after the date your visa starts. The visa starts from the date of issue, not the date of travel. If you plan to use Bangladesh as a hub to visit other countries in the region, make sure you get a multiple-entry visa.

The Visa on Arrival service continues to operate, including in the period before the national elections on 12 February. See Checks at the border .

You may be able to apply for a visa on arrival at Dhaka airport . You must have a return ticket and proof of funds to apply for a visa on arrival. Visas on arrival are:

  • single entry
  • valid for 15 to 30 days
  • not guaranteed – Bangladeshi immigration officers issue them at their discretion
  • also available for business travel if you have a letter of introduction

If you want to stay longer, you can apply for a visa extension from the Department of Immigration and Passports .

Transport and infrastructure

What is the official risk level in Bangladesh today?

Level 2/4 — Exercise Increased Caution, U.S. Department of State, retrieved on 16 October 2026.

  • Is the whole country advised against? United States: no · France: except for imperative reasons · United Kingdom: no · Switzerland: no (reading of 27 September 2026).
  • Switzerland’s FDFA advises against travel to certain regions (published 03.03.2026).
  • Contractually, only an FDFA, FOPH or WHO advisory against the trip opens Module A (art. 18.1) — that is not the case today.
  • International medical cover, 24/7 number saved, and a read of the areas named under Safety & risks before booking the itinerary.
  • We check these sources every morning and e-mail you the day one changes (Alerts button).

Is the whole of Bangladesh advised against, or only some areas?

An area advised against does not rule out the country.

  • Official answers: United States: no · France: except for imperative reasons · United Kingdom: no · Switzerland: no.
  • Foreign Office, regional risks: “This section has safety advice for regions of Bangladesh. It only covers regions where FCDO has specific advice. You should also read FCDO ’s overall travel advice and safety and security advice . Chittagong Hill Tracts FCDO advises against all but essential…”
  • Keep your country of residence's advisory on booking day and on departure day: that is what your policy's clauses cite.

What are the entry requirements for Bangladesh with my passport?

The rules depend on the passport, not on the destination alone.

  • French passport (France Diplomatie): French nationals require a visa for Bangladesh, which can be obtained from the Bangladesh Embassy in Paris before departure. Alternatively, a Visa on Arrival (VOA) is possible, but the application must be completed online beforehand. The VOA fee is currently 60 euros, payable in cash using foreign currency like USD, GBP, or EUR.
  • British passport (Foreign Office): British citizens must have a passport with at least two blank pages and no damage to enter Bangladesh. A visa is required for stays up to three months, unless a ‘no visa required’ stamp is present. Visas on arrival at Dhaka airport are single entry, valid for 15 to 30 days, and require a return ticket and proof of funds.
  • American passport: the requirements are on the State Department country page (travel.state.gov).
  • Swiss passport: the FDFA refers you to the destination's embassy in Switzerland.
  • Pick your passport at the top of Before you go › Entry: the official text that concerns you comes first, with its “In brief” summary.

Do I need an insurance certificate for a Bangladesh visa?

For a Schengen visa, yes: at least €30,000 of travel medical insurance (Regulation (EC) No 810/2009, art. 15).

  • Many other countries ask for it on entry or for a visa, case by case: check Before you go › Entry, with your passport.
  • Subscribe: the named certificate arrives by e-mail on payment, with your name, dates and limits (EUR 1.5M medical expenses, unlimited evacuation and repatriation) — the ones consulates check.
  • Attach it to the visa file; if in doubt about the format, write to us.

What should I do if hospitalised in Bangladesh?

Six steps, in this order.

  • 1. Call +41 22 ••• •• •• before paying anything, or have the front desk call: it is the condition for full cover (otherwise: reduced or refused benefits).
  • 2. Ask for a hospital in the Maximum network (art. 6.9) — the nearest: Asgar Ali Hospital · 1.7 km · 24/7 emergency room.
  • 3. See a doctor the same day and leave with the certificate: without an on-the-spot finding, nothing is covered (art. 33).
  • 4. Admitted for more than 24 h? The front desk calls Maximum: direct payment guarantee, no deposit (art. 2.12).
  • 5. Book no ambulance or flight yourself (art. 6.2.2).
  • 6. Once home, file within 30 days (art. 35.7).

Is an Amex, Visa or Mastercard enough in Bangladesh?

At today's level 2/4, card by card:

  • Amex Platinum — No area exclusion at this level — but three written limits: deductible and prior approval, 90-day cap, advance under conditions.
  • Visa — No express area exclusion — but a €156,000 cap, 90 days, and the war/instability exclusion in the background.
  • Mastercard — No exclusion in play at this level — but a €155,000 cap and 90 covered days.
  • Three lines to read in your notice: the duration (often 90 days per trip), the settlement (reimbursement afterwards or direct payment of the hospital) and the area exclusion at level 4/4.

Are a health plan or a travel policy enough in Bangladesh?

A health plan reimburses at home; here, the hospital asks for a payment guarantee before admission.

  • Health plan — A health plan treats you at home. Here the hospital asks for a guarantee before admission — not a later reimbursement.
  • Travel policy — No area exclusion at this level — compare cap, deductible and covered duration.
  • A travel policy often has a territorial clause at level 4/4 and a 90-day limit per trip.
  • Have your IPID number or the PDF of the terms and ask an expert to call you back: the answer is in the document, not in the brochure.

  • Type your city, hotel or beach: the map re-centres, 24/7 emergency rooms come first.
  • Each row gives the phone when the source publishes it, the nearest street, directions and the Google Maps listing.
  • The PDF briefing repeats the same places, numbered on a printable map.

Which vaccines and health precautions for Bangladesh?

The sourced detail is under Medical network › Health: vaccines, diseases present, altitude, outbreaks.

  • CDC (Travelers' Health), depending on the trip: Routine vaccines, COVID-19, Chikungunya, Cholera, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Japanese Encephalitis.
  • France Diplomatie reports in the country: dengue, malaria, chikungunya — mosquito protection day and night.
  • WHO: 3 outbreak alert(s) for this country in the last 24 months, including “Measles - Bangladesh” (23 April 2026).
  • See a doctor or a travel clinic 8 weeks before departure (Foreign Office).

Can I be treated in Bangladesh, or will I be evacuated?

0.7 physicians per 1,000 people (2023) versus 4.5 in Switzerland.

  • 0.9 hospital beds per 1,000 people versus 4.4 in Switzerland (World Bank).
  • With 0.7 physicians per 1,000 people (84% fewer than Switzerland), the nearest hospital does not always have the capacity for a serious case: evacuation to an adequate centre is the rule, not the exception — that is what unlimited evacuation and repatriation cover. Health spending of 53 USD per person (Switzerland: 11,784) goes with private hospitals that bill foreigners in hard currency and ask for a guarantee before admission: the direct payment guarantee is what avoids the deposit.
  • When the local facility is not enough, Maximum's medical team decides the evacuation to a suitable centre, and pays for it (art. 6.2.2).

Bangladesh: safety, in figures?

2.3 homicides per 100,000 people (2018) versus 0.6 in Switzerland and 1.3 in France.

  • 15.3 road deaths per 100,000 people versus 2.2 in Switzerland (World Bank, WHO).
  • UCDP (Uppsala University): 12 geolocated violent incidents, 13 deaths over the last closed period, each placed on the map.
  • The homicide rate is 4 times Switzerland's: violence is a real risk there, concentrated in the areas named by the official advisories. On the road, 7 times more deaths than in Switzerland: road crashes are the leading cause of death of healthy travellers (CDC) — seat belt, no night driving, a driver or a taxi from a rank.
