How we read these four advisories

Every country has its own scale, so we ask them all the same question: is the whole country advised against?

An advisory covering only areas of the country does not raise the answer: it stays “No”, and the area is shown in the relevant column.

The level shown on this page — and across this site — is the one published by the U.S. State Department, from 1 (normal precautions) to 4 (do not travel). France and the United Kingdom publish their own advisories, with their own rules: they add to that level, they do not replace it.

  • Diphtérie-tétanos-poliomyélite (DTP) : elle reste obligatoire par un vaccin oral (VPO) pour les résidents venant de pays d’endémie ou d’épidémie de poliomyélite. La vaccination doit avoir été réalisée au moins 4 semaines avant l’arrivée ;
  • Fièvre jaune : o bligatoire pour les voyageurs en provenance de zones d’endémie ;
  • Hépatite A : en fonction des conditions et de la durée de séjour ;
  • Fièvre typhoïde : en fonction des conditions et de la durée de séjour ;
  • Hépatite B : en cas de séjours fréquents ou prolongés ;
  • Méningite ACWY : en cas de séjour pendant la saison sèche (habituellement hiver et printemps) ou d’épidémie signalée ;
  • Tuberculose : chez les enfants de moins de 15 ans en cas de séjours fréquents ou prolongés ;
  • Rage : notamment enfants en bas âge, séjour en milieu rural ou éloigné des villes principales ;
  • Chikungunya : en cas d’épidémie ou de séjour prolongé ;
  • Dengue : en cas d’épidémie active ou de séjour prolongé en zone endémique ;

  • Une adaptation progressive à l’altitude en limitant les efforts physiques les premiers jours ;
  • Une ascension lente et progressive (pas plus de 400 m de dénivelé positif entre deux nuits consécutives à partir de 2 500 m) ;
  • Une hydratation régulière en évitant les boissons alcoolisées et repas copieux ;

  • Porter des vêtements longs et couvrants ;
  • Appliquer des produits répulsifs cutanés sur les zones découvertes du corps ;
  • Protéger son logement (moustiquaires imprégnées d’insecticide, diffuseurs électriques, serpentins à l’extérieur, climatisation, etc.) ;

  • Se laver les mains régulièrement avec de l’eau et du savon ou des solutions de lavage hydroalcooliques, surtout avant et après les repas et le passage aux toilettes ;
  • Veiller à la qualité des aliments et surtout à leur bonne cuisson ;
  • Éviter la consommation de produits alimentaires (poisson, viande, volaille, lait) crus ou peu cuits ;
  • Peler les fruits et légumes ou les laver soigneusement (à l’eau saine) ;
  • Éviter les crudités, coquillages, plats réchauffés et buffets froids ;

Health — Foreign Office

Before you travel check that:

  • your destination can provide the healthcare you may need
  • you have appropriate travel insurance for local treatment or unexpected medical evacuation

This is particularly important if you have a health condition or are pregnant.

Emergency medical number

Dial 112 and ask for an ambulance.

Contact your insurance or medical assistance company quickly if you’re referred to a medical facility for treatment.

Vaccine recommendations and health risks

At least 8 weeks before your trip:

  • check the latest vaccine recommendations for India
  • see where to get vaccines and whether you have to pay on the NHS travel vaccinations page

See what health risks you’ll face in India, including:

  • dengue and malaria
  • Zika
  • chikungunya
  • poor air quality

Altitude sickness is a risk in parts India. Read more about altitude sickness on TravelHealthPro .

Air pollution

Severe air pollution is a major health hazard, especially during the winter months from October to February. North Indian cities and metros across the country are most affected by extremely high levels of pollution. Children, the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions may be especially affected. If you’re pregnant or have a respiratory or heart condition you may wish to consult a medical practitioner before you travel.

Medication

The legal status and regulation of some medicines prescribed or bought in the UK can be different in other countries.

Pharmacies are widely available in India. Most medicines that require a prescription in the UK will require one in India. Take your existing medicine packaging to show them exactly what you need.

Read best practice when travelling with medicines on TravelHealthPro .

Healthcare in India

Medical facilities differ from those in the UK, especially in more remote areas. Specialised treatment may not be available outside major cities. In major cities, government and more expensive private medical care is available.

FCDO has a list of medical providers in India where some staff will speak English.

Hospitals in India usually ask for a guardian or an attendant to stay in the hospital with the patient. It is possible to find agencies who will provide a caregiver for a fee, but it may be difficult to find someone who speaks English. If you know you need hospital care in India, you should try and organise a guardian such as a friend or relative who can stay with you for the duration.

Transplant surgery

If you’re travelling to India for organ transplant surgery, check in advance with the hospital what proof they need about your circumstances in the UK. You may need to submit evidence of your marriage and birth of your children before the operation can take place. You can get copies of marriage and birth certificates from the General Register Office in the UK . You may want to get your documents legalised before travelling. The British High Commission cannot provide guarantees and certificates on your behalf.

Updated 15.06.2025

Exercise increased caution in India due to crime and terrorism . Some areas have increased risk.

Violent crime and terrorism occur in India.

  • Rape is one of the fastest growing crimes in India.
  • Violent crimes, including sexual assault, happen at tourist sites and other locations.
  • Terrorists may attack with little or no warning. They target:
  • Tourist locations
  • Transportation hubs
  • Markets and shopping malls
  • Government facilities

The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in rural areas.

  • These areas stretch from eastern Maharashtra and northern Telangana through western West Bengal.
  • Due to the risks, U.S. government employees working in India must obtain special authorization to travel to these areas.

  • de garder sur soi son passeport ;
  • de sauvegarder dans son téléphone et d’envoyer à un proche des copies de ses papiers d’identité et de son visa ;
  • de s’inscrire sur le site Ariane : https://pastel.diplomatie.gouv.fr/fildariane/dyn/public/login.html
  • de signaler à un tiers de confiance les déplacements prévus ;
  • de n’accepter aucun colis d’inconnus ;

Quartiers à éviter à New Delhi

  • Il est recommandé de porter des vêtements longs et de garder les épaules couvertes ;
  • Il est recommandé de faire preuve de prudence et de rester vigilante dans ses relations avec la population locale que l’on peut être amenée à côtoyer en voyage ou dans la vie quotidienne ;

This section has safety advice for regions of India. It only covers regions where the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office ( FCDO ) has specific advice.

You should also read FCDO ’s overall travel advice and safety and security advice for India.

India-Pakistan border area and western India

FCDO  advises against all travel within 10km of the India-Pakistan border. The Wagah-Attari border crossing is closed for tourist transit except for the daily border retreat ceremony. If you have plans to travel to India from Pakistan using any land borders, make alternate plans and follow the advice of local authorities

The India-Pakistan border in Gujarat and Rajasthan is unmarked in some areas. Approaching it away from an official crossing point could be dangerous. Where it is unmarked, you could enter Pakistan illegally.

Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir

FCDO advises against all travel to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (including Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, the city of Srinagar and the Jammu-Srinagar national highway), except for:

  • travel by air to and from the city of Jammu
  • travel within the city of Jammu

There have been frequent terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. There is a continuing threat, towards Indian government targets and civilians including tourists and foreign nationals. See Terrorism .

There is a heavy security presence in the Kashmir Valley. This, combined with violent protests and operations by security forces, has resulted in a number of deaths and serious casualties.

The authorities can impose and lift curfews and other restrictions frequently and quickly. Stay vigilant, monitor local media, and follow the advice of local authorities and your travel company.

Foreign nationals are vulnerable in rural districts and outside the main population centres and tourist areas. There is a risk of unpredictable violence, including bombings, grenade attacks, shootings and kidnapping. The long-standing policy of the UK government is not to make substantive concessions to hostage takers. The level of consular assistance that the British High Commission in India can provide in Jammu and Kashmir is severely limited.

Manipur

FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the state of Manipur due to ongoing ethnic violence since May 2023.

There may be curfews and other restrictions including transport disruptions and the suspension of internet services at short notice in some parts of the state.

Some insurgent groups are active in north-east India including in the state of Manipur.

You should:

  • avoid protests or large gatherings
  • follow the advice of the local authorities and your travel company
  • monitor local media and follow any curfew restrictions
Other north-eastern states

Sudden flareups and skirmishes may happen along inter-state borders in north-east India including Assam-Meghalaya borders. Please check with local authorities before traveling in the region.

There have been skirmishes on the India-Bangladesh border. Travellers are advised to check with local authorities that it is safe to travel before visiting these areas.

Protests, blockades and large gatherings are common in India’s north-eastern states. They can happen without warning and occasionally result in disorder. Blockades and protests may disrupt traffic along the national highways connecting them with each other and with Assam.

Avoid protests and leave as soon as possible if a crowd develops. Review your security arrangements carefully and follow the advice of local authorities.

Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra

Naxalite (Maoist or Left Wing Extremism) insurgents target police officers, paramilitary forces and government officials leading to injuries and deaths. Seek advice from your travel provider and local authorities on LWE-affected areas if you plan to travel to these states. Ministry of Home Affairs .

Goa

Terrorism

There is a high threat of terrorist attack globally affecting UK interests and British nationals, including from groups and individuals who view the UK and British nationals as targets. Stay aware of your surroundings at all times.

UK Counter Terrorism Policing has information and advice on staying safe and what to do in the event of a terrorist attack. Find out how to reduce your risk from terrorism while abroad .

Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in India.

There is a heightened risk of terrorism in some Indian regions. Read our advice on regional risks in India for more information.

Terrorist and insurgent groups operating in India include:

  • Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and associated proxy groups such as The Resistance Front in Indian-administered Kashmir
  • Naxalite (Maoist or Left Wing Extremism) groups active in some of the India’s eastern, southern and central states
  • Khalistani extremists operating mainly in Punjab
  • Daesh, Al Qa’ida in the Indian Subcontinent ( AQIS ) and other groups may also be planning attacks

Terrorist attacks have targeted Indian government interests and civilians, including tourists and foreign nationals. Security has been strengthened, including at major hotels and transport hubs. However, terrorist attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreign nationals, such as:

  • restaurants, hotels, bars, shopping centres and markets
  • stations and airports
  • places of worship and tourist attractions
  • festivals, sports venues and beaches

Take particular care during periods of national or religious significance, such as:

  • Republic Day (26 January)
  • Independence Day (15 August)
  • Diwali (usually in October or November)
  • Eid (date changes each year)

Stay aware of your surroundings and keep up to date with local media reports. It is advisable to always carry identity documents and follow the advice of local authorities.

Demonstrations and mass gatherings

Strikes (sometimes referred to as ‘bandh’ or ‘hartal’), political rallies and demonstrations happen frequently and can become violent. The risks are higher during elections and after the death of party or government leaders. Protests can happen at short notice, especially around days of national importance.

Local authorities may impose curfews and other restrictions. Transport and public services including mobile networks and internet may be disrupted. Stampedes have occurred during some events with large crowds like sporting events, parades or religious gatherings resulting in death and injuries.

You should:

  • avoid protests or demonstrations, rallies and large gatherings including at religious sites
  • follow the advice of the local authorities and your travel company
  • monitor local media and follow any curfew restrictions
Crime

If you’re the victim of crime in India, call:

  • police helpline: 100
  • national emergency number: 112
  • women helpline: 1091
Protecting your belongings

Keep a copy of your passport complete with your emergency contact details, visa and flight ticket separately from originals when travelling. Leave copies at home where others can access them, and store copies electronically. If your passport is lost or stolen, tell the police immediately and get a police report. You will need the police report for your exit visa application.

Take care of your possessions on buses, trains and in crowds. Criminals may ride past on motorbikes and snatch valuables.

Global Affairs Canada — written for Canadian travellers, valid for all

Local laws

You must abide by local laws. Learn about what you should do and how we can help if you are arrested or detained abroad.

Drugs

Penalties for possession, use or trafficking of illegal drugs are severe. Convicted offenders can expect heavy fines and jail sentences. Detention during the investigation is common and can be lengthy.

Alcohol

Laws regarding the purchase and consumption of alcohol, including the legal drinking age, differ from state to state. Authorities often call for dry periods during:

  • religious festivals
  • elections
  • national holidays

Drugs, alcohol and travel

Smoking

It is prohibited to import, possess or use e-cigarettes, vaporisers and their refills.

Beef consumption

Cows are protected and venerated by several groups of faith in India. Several states impose prohibitions on beef slaughter and consumption. In some rural areas, cow protection vigilantes have attacked people suspected of selling, consuming, or possessing beef or items made with cowhide. Avoid consuming beef or its derived products while in India.

Religious proselytism

In certain states, it's illegal to engage in religious proselytism, such as preaching, possessing, or distributing religious literature or material with the intent of converting. Indian authorities require foreign missionaries to obtain a missionary visa. If you plan to conduct religious activities in India, ensure that:

  • the activities are legal
  • you possess the proper visa for the activities you plan to perform
Satellite and GPS devices

It's illegal to carry and/or use satellite phones and GPS devices in India without a licence, even if you are only transiting through the country. This does not include regular cell phones.

Photography

It is prohibited to take pictures of military installations, airports and dams. Ask permission before photographing places of worship such as temples or mosques.

Imports and exports

There are strict regulations on the importation or exportation of items such as:

  • firearms
  • antiquities
  • electronic equipment
  • local currency
  • ivory and gold objects
  • protected animals
  • pornographic material

Among others, you must register antique items for export with local police, with a photograph of each item. Customs Guide for Travellers – India's Central Board of Excise and Customs

Dress and behaviour

India is a traditional, conservative and multi-faith society. To avoid offending local sensitivities:

  • Dress conservatively
  • Behave discreetly
  • Respect religious and social traditions
  • Avoid displays of affection in public
  • Avoid using footwear in places of worship
Family law

Indian family law is very different from Canadian law. In case of dispute, consult a local lawyer to be fully aware of local laws regarding marital fraud, dowry abuse or extortion, custody, guardianship and visitation rights. Individuals facing charges may be forced to remain in India until their cases have been settled or charges dismissed.

Commercial surrogacy

If you're planning to visit India to commission surrogacy arrangements, you should consider the potential challenges involved in pursuing international surrogacy. Seek specialist legal advice on Indian and Canadian laws before making any arrangements. A proposed Indian government ban on foreign commercial surrogacy could affect Canadians travelling to India to enter into a surrogacy agreement. You should also consult with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on current policies regarding citizenship through descent and the issuance of Canadian travel documents.

Land and property disputes

If you plan on buying property or are involved in a land dispute in India, you should seek legal advice. Do so before making commitments. Related disputes could take time and be costly to resolve. The offices of the Government of Canada in India can't provide assistance or legal advice related to private legal matters.

2SLGBTQI+ persons

Indian law doesn't criminalize sexual acts or relationships between persons of the same sex. However, 2SLGBTQI+ persons could be discriminated against based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or sex characteristics. Foreign Office — laws and cultural differences

Dress code

Respect local dress code and customs, particularly when visiting religious sites and rural areas.

Alcohol laws and bans

Laws on alcohol, including buying, drinking and the legal drinking age, vary by state. Get advice from your travel agent, hotel or the authorities about the laws in areas you are visiting. It is illegal to drink alcohol in public places, such as parks. In some states, foreign nationals and non-resident Indians can buy 30-day alcohol permits. There is often a ban on the sale of alcohol during major religious festivals, national holidays and elections. Police can carry out vehicle checks during this period. The consumption, production or transportation of alcohol is illegal in:

  • Bihar
  • Gujarat
  • Mizoram
  • Nagaland
  • Union Territory of Lakshadweep

If you drink or possess alcohol in these states, you could be arrested and held without bail. You could face a prison sentence of 5 to 10 years.

Smoking and vapes bans

It is illegal to smoke in most public places. Only smoke in designated smoking areas. Vapes and related products are banned. You cannot buy vapes in India or bring them into the country.

Illegal drugs and prison sentences

Do not get involved with any illegal drugs. Drugs are not categorised as they would be in the UK, into Class A, B and C and possession of any illegal drug could lead to sentencing. You could face a minimum sentence of 6 months for possession of small amounts deemed for personal consumption only, up to a 10-year sentence for other amounts. The judicial process is slow, and you could be detained for several years while your case is processed.

Using cameras and binoculars in secure areas

Activities involving cameras and binoculars, like photography, birdwatching or plane spotting, may be misunderstood. Be particularly careful near military sites, government buildings, airports and railway stations.

Satellite phones and other devices

It is illegal to possess and operate satellite phones and GPS devices in India without a licence, even if you are only transiting through India. This may also cover other satellite-enabled devices, including handheld or cycling GPSs. You can be fined or arrested for possession of these devices without permission and the item can be confiscated. A number of British nationals have been arrested or detained for bringing satellite phones and other satellite-enabled navigational devices into the country without prior permission. Contact the Indian Department of Telecommunication to request a licence. Further information is also available at the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

Swimming safety

There are strong currents in rivers and off many coasts and people drown every year. Most beaches do not have warning signs, flags or lifesaving equipment. Take local advice and follow warnings and instructions issued by lifeguards. Emergency service standards may differ from those in the UK. See water safety on holiday from the Royal Life Saving Society.

Trekking in India

Trekkers should:

  • travel in groups
  • use reputable local guides and stay on established routes
  • check if you need any special permits

Leave details of where you’re going and when you expect to return with your accommodation. You are extremely unlikely to have a phone signal in the mountains, so make sure your accommodation provider registers your whereabouts using the online C-form. It is illegal to possess or operate satellite phones or GPS devices without prior permission of the Indian authorities. Contact the Indian Department of Telecommunication to request a licence. Hazards when trekking exist throughout the year, especially above 3,000 metres, including:

  • altitude sickness
  • sudden weather changes, including thunderstorms
  • avalanches and snow drifts
  • landslides, flooding and rock falls

Make sure your insurance policy covers you for altitudes over 2,400m and mountain rescue and helicopter costs. While commercial ground-based search and rescue (SAR) teams generally do not operate at base stations above 3,000m, commercial helicopters do. This would require insurance. In some border areas only the Indian Air Force can carry out air rescues. However, they are under no obligation to perform them and only carry out rescues during working hours.

LGBT+ travellers

Same-sex sexual relationships are legal in India. However same-sex marriage is illegal. Indian society is conservative. This includes attitudes to LGBT+ people, which can be less accepting than in the UK. There is a risk of harassment and discrimination, especially outside of big cities. Showing affection in public may attract unwanted and negative attention. See more advice for LGBT+ travellers.

Child custody and family law

Indian family law is different from UK law. Special caution is needed when child custody becomes an issue. In case of dispute, consult a lawyer in India to find out more about the relevant laws. Commercial surrogacy is illegal for foreign nationals in India. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) should seek legal guidance on non-commercial (altruistic) surrogacy.

Wildlife, animal products and souvenirs

It is illegal to buy, sell, kill or capture any protected wild animal or trade its parts without a licence. India has a strong legal framework to regulate and restrict wildlife trade and is also a signatory to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). If you’re caught purchasing or trafficking these illegally, you will be prosecuted and receive a prison sentence or fine.

Sexual offences against children

There are severe penalties for any form of sexual offence against a child. There is a minimum jail term of 20 years, which may go up to life in prison or a death sentence, for anyone convicted of raping a child aged 12 or under.

Visas

Permis spéciaux : Restricted Area Permit (RAR) - Protected Area Permit (PAR)

  • obtenir une déclaration de perte ou de vol auprès de la police locale de la ville où le titre a été perdu ;
  • se faire délivrer un passeport d’urgence ou un laissez-passer au consulat de France le plus proche (consulter la liste des documents à produire sur le site internet de l' ambassade de France en Inde ) ;
  • enregistrer une demande d’ « exit permit for loss of passport » sur le site officiel : https://indianfrro.gov.in/eservices/home.jsp Le délai de délivrance de l’ e xit permit est généralement d’une semaine.

Returning to the UK

When returning to the UK, British citizens must carry a valid British passport or certificate of entitlement .

Visa requirements

You must have a visa to visit India unless you are an Overseas Citizen of India ( OCI ) cardholder.

Find out how to apply for a visa from the Indian Bureau of Immigration . Depending on your requirements, you may be able to apply for a:

  • regular (paper) visa

- e-visa (check the website’s FAQs for restrictions on airports, land borders and seaports of entry)

Check your eligibility and any restrictions before you apply. Allow plenty of time for your application to be processed.

Applicants of Pakistani origin

If you are of Pakistani origin, a British-Pakistani dual national or hold a National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis ( NICOP ), the visa processing time will be substantially longer than other visa applications. More information is available from the High Commission of India .

If you are a British-Pakistani dual national, you must apply for an Indian visa on your Pakistani passport. If you have renounced your Pakistani nationality, or cancelled your Pakistani passport, you will need to submit documentary proof of this.

Overseas Citizen of India ( OCI ) cardholders

If you hold a valid Overseas Citizen of India ( OCI ) card, you can use this, along with your valid British passport, to visit India. You do not need a visa. An Electronic Overseas Citizen of India (e- OCI ) was launched in June 2026 and means holders of an e- OCI card need not carry a physical copy of the card. More information is available at Online OCI Services , including the requirement for special permission to undertake certain activities such as research, missionary activities or journalism.

FDFA (Switzerland) — transport and specific advice, in French

Transport and infrastructure

The health system — With 0.7 physicians per 1,000 people (84% fewer than Switzerland), the nearest hospital does not always have the capacity for a serious case: evacuation to an adequate centre is the rule, not the exception — that is what unlimited evacuation and repatriation cover. Health spending of 85 USD per person (Switzerland: 11,784) goes with private hospitals that bill foreigners in hard currency and ask for a guarantee before admission: the direct payment guarantee is what avoids the deposit.

What are the entry requirements for India with my passport?

The rules depend on the passport, not on the destination alone.

  • French passport (France Diplomatie): From 1 October 2025, all foreign arrivals in India must complete the online e-Arrival Card form at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival/ at least 72 hours before departure. French nationals require a valid visa or e-visa to enter India; arrival without one results in deportation by Indian authorities. Journalists and filmmakers must obtain specific journalist or film visas; working without the appropriate visa risks imprisonment, fines, and entry ban.
  • British passport (Foreign Office): British citizens entering India must hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond arrival date with minimum two blank pages. British travellers must obtain an Indian visa unless holding a valid Overseas Citizen of India card; wrong visa category risks refusal, deportation, or future entry ban. British-Pakistani dual nationals must apply for Indian visas on their Pakistani passport; processing takes substantially longer than standard applications.
  • American passport: the requirements are on the State Department country page (travel.state.gov).
  • Swiss passport: the FDFA refers you to the destination's embassy in Switzerland.
  • Pick your passport at the top of Before you go › Entry: the official text that concerns you comes first, with its “In brief” summary.

Are a health plan or a travel policy enough in India?

A health plan reimburses at home; here, the hospital asks for a payment guarantee before admission.

  • Health plan — A health plan treats you at home. Here the hospital asks for a guarantee before admission — not a later reimbursement.

0.7 physicians per 1,000 people (2020) versus 4.5 in Switzerland.

  • 1.6 hospital beds per 1,000 people versus 4.4 in Switzerland (World Bank).
  • With 0.7 physicians per 1,000 people (84% fewer than Switzerland), the nearest hospital does not always have the capacity for a serious case: evacuation to an adequate centre is the rule, not the exception — that is what unlimited evacuation and repatriation cover. Health spending of 85 USD per person (Switzerland: 11,784) goes with private hospitals that bill foreigners in hard currency and ask for a guarantee before admission: the direct payment guarantee is what avoids the deposit.
  • When the local facility is not enough, Maximum's medical team decides the evacuation to a suitable centre, and pays for it (art. 6.2.2).

India: safety, in figures?

2.8 homicides per 100,000 people (2022) versus 0.6 in Switzerland and 1.3 in France.

  • 15.6 road deaths per 100,000 people versus 2.2 in Switzerland (World Bank, WHO).
  • UCDP (Uppsala University): 51 geolocated violent incidents, 136 deaths over the last closed period, each placed on the map.
  • The homicide rate is 5 times Switzerland's: violence is a real risk there, concentrated in the areas named by the official advisories. On the road, 7 times more deaths than in Switzerland: road crashes are the leading cause of death of healthy travellers (CDC) — seat belt, no night driving, a driver or a taxi from a rank.

Travelling to New Delhi, Bombay, Mumbai, Bangalore: what changes

The published advisory level is national, but risk is not: business hubs (New Delhi, Bombay, Mumbai, Bangalore) do not share the profile of border areas. The medical network shown on this page is computed around New Delhi — real hospitals, evacuation airport and live alerts. Before a specific trip, always cross-check your country of residence's advisory: that is what your policy cites.

Same advisory level: Indonesia · Italy · Jamaica · Kenya · Kosovo · Laos
