ISO 31030:2021 is a guidance standard: unlike ISO 9001 or ISO 45001, it is not designed for certification. ISO 31030 contributions are Maximum’s functional interpretation of the ISO 31030:2021 guidelines. This approach is neither an ISO 31030 certification nor a guarantee of legal compliance. The organisation remains solely responsible for the decisions, formalities and measures actually implemented. Both levels are summarised on page 7 of the Duty of Care factsheet (PDF) →

Frequently asked questions

Protection

What do insurance and the company space do?

Insurance protects against events specified in the policy: health and assistance, cancellation and interruption, baggage and equipment, mission continuity, legal protection, private liability and serious accidents. Benefits and options depend on the chosen pack.

The included space supports your prevention and compliance processes: prepare trips, inform employees, track actions and keep dated decisions and supporting records.

What is covered, and what are the limits?

VIP covers insured trips outside the country of residence, supplementing statutory schemes. Unlimited trips during the year, subject to the policy.

  • Health: overseas emergencies up to 1.5 million; urgent follow-up care on return linked to the overseas event up to 40,000; emergency dental care up to CHF 1,000.
  • 24/7 medical assistance: unlimited medical evacuation and repatriation, search and rescue up to 50,000; medical network referrals, dispatch of a doctor, care monitoring, second opinions, medication shipment and language assistance.
  • Relatives and death: family visits up to 5,000, companion’s return, repatriation of remains and formalities; two psychological consultations after the traumatic events specified by the policy.
  • Travel disruption: cancellation or changes up to 5,000, interruption up to 10,000, extension or rearrangement up to 2,000, for insured events only.
  • Mission continuity: employee replacement or return to the mission, identity documents up to 2,000, repayable cash advance up to 10,000, concierge and business assistance, and a travel information portal.
  • Baggage and equipment: baggage up to 10,000, professional equipment up to 3,000, delayed baggage up to 2,000.
  • Legal protection and liability: legal fees and proceedings up to 50,000, excluding disputes arising from professional activities; repayable bail advance up to 100,000; overseas private liability up to 1 million. This is not professional liability insurance.
  • Serious accidents: accidental death or permanent accidental disability benefit up to 150,000, subject to the benefit scale.

VIP Extreme raises cancellation cover to 20,000 and adds trip changes, cancellation or interruption for the crises specified by the policy, up to 5,000 per person. Crisis management, security and kidnap/ransom: contact us, subject to selected options and eligibility.

Unless specified otherwise, limits are in CHF, EUR or USD according to the policy currency. Sub-limits, aggregate limits and conditions apply; advances must be repaid.

For covered hospitalisation, assistance may arrange direct payment after approval. Paid expenses are reimbursed under the policy. Exclusions include unstable illnesses and mental disorders; war and sanctions provisions may restrict benefits.

Full benefits, conditions and exclusions are in the benefits table and general conditions on the Documents page.

What should an employee do in an emergency?

Call the 24/7 number on their card or mission page before arranging care or transport themselves. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Chat does not replace assistance.

For a work accident, your company must also make the required employer report; the space guides you.

How it works

What do I do for each trip?

Choose the employee, a suggested destination and dates. Their checklist shows available documents and remaining tasks. Then authorise departure to send the mission page. You can delegate this to HR.

Which documents are prepared? What must I request?

The trip record and complete country guide, targeted to the selected destination, are available in the checklist. A mission statement is pre-filled when needed; you complete it and hand it to the employee.

A1 or another social certificate must be requested from the listed authority, not Maximum. The link and upload button are in the same checklist. Check visas and permits with the authorities.

Can you certify our compliance with ISO 31030?

No. ISO 31030:2021 is a guidance standard: unlike ISO 9001 or ISO 45001, it is not designed for certification.

Maximum offers two levels. Level 1 is a free 15-question self-assessment with an indicative result and your priorities. Level 2, included in the plans, is the ISO 31030 grid in your company workspace: 22 points tracked automatically from your actual records, showing what is documented and what remains to be done, exportable with the evidence file.

Maximum gives no opinion on your programme and issues no attestation: neither level is an ISO 31030 certification or a guarantee of legal compliance, and your organisation remains solely responsible for the decisions, formalities and measures actually implemented.

How does the space support our prevention and compliance processes?

It is designed to help you meet your employer responsibilities and demonstrate the measures taken to protect employees. The file of proof gathers risk assessments, decisions, sent instructions, reading acknowledgements, replies and saved documents, with dates and authors.

After an accident, inspection or dispute, you can present the file without reconstructing it. You remain responsible for decisions and formalities: the file supports your actions, but does not by itself certify legal compliance.
