Your closed claims files, washed on your own computer.

Your closed claims files and technical scales sit on a server. They can help train the AI models of travel insurance, without the original file ever leaving your computer: your browser replaces the names and transforms the amounts, and you see the result before anything is sent.

Your claims files count. A validated settlement case taken from your file opens a share for you on each sale of a Maximum pack that contains it. Payouts start with the first sale; actual sales are shown below, with no made-up amount.

  • The original file stays on your computer
  • You see the result before anything is sent
  • A person reviews every upload

Fictitious example. Every amount in a file is multiplied by one random factor, then each one is slightly changed and rounded.
In three steps

How does it work?

1

You drop a file into your browser

An Excel workbook (.xlsx), or a .zip archive that contains some. Nothing is sent at this stage.

2

It is transformed on your computer

Names are replaced, amounts transformed, comments and hidden sheets removed. You compare the original and the result side by side, and you can open it in Excel.

3

You send it, if you want to

A person reviews every upload. The validated settlement cases taken from your files enter our packs; on each sale of a pack that contains some, you receive 50% of the net amount excluding taxes, multiplied by the share of your cases in all the rows of the lot sold.

Who it is for

Which files, and from whom?

You are

  • Brokers in travel insurance, international health and corporate mobility
  • MGAs and delegated claims administrators
  • Claims adjusters and loss assessors
  • Duty-of-care firms and international mobility managers

Your files (.xlsx, closed files)

  • Settlement statements: amount claimed, amount settled, deductible, cap, clause applied
  • Loss-ratio and closed-claims tracking sheets
  • Technical scales and pricing grids
  • Duty-of-care tracking registers (without traveller identities)

What they teach models: what an insured person is really left to pay, contract by contract, and the clause that set it. It is one of the points models get wrong (check M6, on the AI Data page).

Confidentiality

What happens to your files?

Facts you can check on this page, not promises.

The original file stays with you

It is read and transformed in your browser. Only the washed version leaves, with the original's fingerprint: a string of characters that lets it be recognised, not rebuilt.

You see what leaves

The original and the washed version are shown side by side. You can download the washed version and open it in Excel before sending it.

You validate the names

Every name spotted is ticked by default and replaced by a token. You untick what is not a name, you add what is missing.

A person reviews every upload

A rejected file enters no dataset. Only approved data become contributions.

Your file is neither sold nor shown

The washed version is kept for the review. Only what was approved is distributed, inside the datasets, and the delivered datasets do not carry your firm's identifier.

A written agreement, withdrawal whenever you want

The partner agreement governs everything. You can ask for your contributions to be withdrawn by e-mail: they no longer enter later versions.

Health data: remove it before uploading. A claims file may contain diagnoses, treatments, policy, file or passport numbers. Washing replaces the names you validate; it recognises neither a diagnosis nor a number. Delete those columns from the workbook before uploading it: you are the one who approves the version that leaves.

The transformation in detail: what is removed, transformed, kept

Everything happens in this browser, before anything is sent. The engine is that of Proplace's partner page, byte for byte (version wash-1.0.0).

Removed

  • Document properties (author, company, title, dates, sheet names): docProps/core.xml, app.xml and custom.xml rewritten neutral, thumbnail deleted
  • Comments, threaded comments and the list of people
  • Hidden and very hidden sheets, with their relationships; the text used only by those sheets is emptied from the shared strings table
  • Pivot caches and definitions, slicers and timelines
  • Links to other workbooks, data connections, queries, the data model
  • Embedded objects, drawings, charts, images, controls; a theme that carries images (logo, background)
  • Revision history, customXml data, sensitivity labels, printer settings, calculation chain, hyperlinks, headers and footers, scenarios, the file's path on your disk
  • Any part of the file that nothing references (the report names it by a number, never by its name)

Transformed

  • Recognised amounts (constants in currency or thousands format, or under a label the engine recognises: “amount”, “total”, “premium”, “claim”, “fees”…) are transformed in three steps: multiplied by one factor k drawn at random between 0.75 and 1.35, more than 5% away from 1; then each by its own factor, 0.5 to 3% above or below 1, derived from a random value drawn once for this file and from the position of the cell; then rounded to 4 significant digits. On this page, unclassified numbers are too, while their box stays ticked. No non-zero amount is kept as it was. Neither k nor the random value is ever shown, sent or stored.
  • The names you validate one by one become tokens [ENTITÉ_1], [ENTITÉ_2]… in cell text, formula strings, sheet names, data validation messages, filter values, comments of defined names and tables, style names and number format text.
  • Cached formula values are removed: Excel recalculates everything when the file is opened.
  • A formula that pointed to a removed sheet or to another workbook shows #REF!: the page lists them before you send.

Kept

  • The text of every formula
  • Cell text and the names of the visible sheets, except the names you validate
  • Dates, years, percentages (coverage rates…), multiples, counts and durations
  • Caps and deductibles, unless you choose to treat them as amounts
  • Numbers that nothing allows to classify, only if you untick their box (ticked by default on this page, which treats them as amounts)
  • Formatting, styles, defined name and table identifiers, data validation
The limits, precisely: what the washing does not do
  • Washing recognises neither a diagnosis, nor a treatment, nor a policy or file number: what is not a name you validate stays in the file. Remove those columns before uploading.
  • The engine, Proplace's, knows the vocabulary of mergers and acquisitions, not yet that of claims: in General format, a “Claimed”, “Settled”, “Reimbursed”, “Medical expenses”, “Indemnity” or “Remaining cost” column is not recognised as an amount. This page therefore treats unclassified numbers as amounts by default. A whole number from 1900 to 2100 without a recognised label is read as a year and stays as it is: the page has you confirm them before washing, and a currency or thousands format given to their column in Excel makes them recognised as amounts.
  • For a claims file, claimed and settled amounts are transformed, but caps and deductibles stay as they are: the remaining-cost calculation, which mixes amounts and caps, can no longer be redone on the washed version, and a remaining cost equal to the deductible, the usual case below the cap, gives k to within about 3% through their ratio. Treating caps and deductibles as amounts too does not restore that calculation (each amount is perturbed on its own), and a public cap, that of a known contract, then gives k to within about 3% to whoever recognises it.
  • The washed version keeps each amount to within a few percent, no more: the ratio of two amounts differs from the original one by 6.3% at most, a result computed as a difference (claimed minus settled) by much more; whoever knows one original amount estimates the others to within 6.3% at most, and can then guess those that were very round. What the perturbation prevents: recovering k, and with it the exact amounts, from the round numbers of the washed version alone, as a plain scaling allowed. The ratios you declare are read on the original, before any transformation.
  • One washed version per original file: two washes of the same file draw two factors k and two random values, and whoever held both versions could cross them to narrow their estimate of the amounts. The first version received is the one that counts.
  • Name detection is a suggestion: every name spotted is ticked by default and replaced, except those you untick. Numbers written inside text and constants typed inside formulas are not transformed: the page lists the latter, review the preview for the former.
  • A settlement case only enters Maximum's data (the real-cases page of /comparer) with its real amounts, validated by Maximum Insurance or by the insurer.
  • Workbooks with macros (.xlsm), binary workbooks (.xlsb), password-protected files and images placed in cells are refused.
Who we are

Who runs this programme, and for whom?

Maximum Insurance

A Swiss travel insurtech, covering travel insurance and the duty of care owed to travellers. Its engine produces the trip briefs and coverage arbitrations our datasets are made of.

Public datasets, anyone can test them

Any lab can try our cases and their grader on the AI Data page, with no account.

The buyers we target

Insurtech and AI start-ups, university labs and data brokers working on insurance and traveller safety. The programme targets them; it claims no customer.

What you earn

What do your files earn you?

A written rule, actual sales, no made-up amount.

The rule, written once and for all

On each sale of a Maximum pack that contains cases taken from your files, the share is computed on the net amount excluding taxes: the price paid, minus payment fees and VAT.

Your share = 50% of that amount × (your validated settlement cases in the lot ÷ all the rows of the lot sold).

The exact formula, as our system computes it

Reading the formula…

Actual sales, to date

Reading actual sales…

Your first benefit, later on: settlement references

Once we have received enough files, we will publish aggregated settlement references (for example, what an insured person is left to pay, benefit by benefit). Partners will get free access to them, sales or no sales. They do not exist yet: we will write to you when they open.

Why no earnings simulator? Because we have no serious assumption to put in it: our market study (October 2026) found no public price paid for travel claims files by a data buyer, and an amount computed without an actual sale would be made up. So we show the rule and the actual sales, nothing else.

Over time

How does the partnership work over time?

Upload as you go

Every new file adds to your contributions. One upload counts per original file.

Paid through Stripe, with self-billing

Shares reach your Stripe payout account; every payout comes with its self-billed invoice, sent by e-mail.

Withdraw at any time

By a simple e-mail. Versions already sold stay as they are, and the shares owed to you remain owed.

Get started

Where do you start?

Three steps, in this order. The first needs neither an account nor an e-mail.

1

Drop your files

.xlsx workbooks, or a .zip archive that contains some. Reading and washing happen in this browser; no byte of the original file is sent, neither to Maximum Insurance nor to Proplace.

Loading the washing engine…

or drop them here · .xlsx and .zip · 64 MB at most per file

2

Partner agreement and self-billing mandate

The programme is operated by Proplace: the agreement is concluded with Proplace, which reviews the uploads and pays the shares through Stripe. Maximum Insurance neither receives nor keeps your files. Read the agreement and the mandate that lets Proplace issue your payout invoices on your behalf, then receive your personal link by e-mail.

Your details and your personal link

Your details (e-mail, name, company, country) go to Proplace, which concludes the agreement and processes them under its article 9; Maximum Insurance does not receive them. The personal link sent to the address you enter is valid for 30 days; your acceptance takes effect when, on the page that link opens, you confirm the request (name, company and country shown), and your washed versions are sent from that page. This browser keeps the link for the open tab, without a cookie.

3

Send the washed versions

Only the washed version, its report and the fingerprint of the original leave, under your personal link. A person reviews every file before it enters a dataset.

No washed version yet.

Frequently asked questions

Before you start.

The partner agreement prevails.

Read the agreement
Does my confidentiality undertaking allow me to upload?

It is up to you to check before approving the upload: the agreement asks you to warrant that the washed version may be shared and contains no personal data. Washing is a helping tool; it does not replace that check.

What is removed from the file?

Document properties (author, company), comments, hidden sheets, pivot caches, links to other workbooks, embedded objects and images. The full list is in “The transformation in detail”, above.

When do my files start earning?

When three things have happened: your upload is approved at review; a settlement case taken from your file is validated and enters a Maximum pack; that pack is sold. The share is then computed sale by sale. Actual sales are shown on this page, starting from zero.

From which countries can I be paid?

The Stripe payout account can be opened in these countries: France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, Czechia, Greece, Romania, United States, Canada, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Singapore.

How do invoicing and taxes work?

You issue no invoice: a self-billed invoice is drawn up in your name for every payout and sent to you by e-mail; you have 15 days to dispute it. Shares are exclusive of taxes, and you remain liable for the taxes on the sums received.

How do I withdraw?

By e-mail, at any time. Once your request is processed, your contributions no longer enter later versions; versions already built and licences already sold stay unchanged, and shares owed remain owed.
